3 Dog-Friendly Places to Visit This Winter

Dog Winter Playing

When you picture an outdoor adventure with your dog, what do you see? Perhaps a sunny beach day? Or a park in spring? This is what most people would imagine.

However, have you ever thought about taking your canine on a vacation in the middle of winter? It’s a time of year when most prefer to say wrapped up warm inside, but why not break that habit and see what this season really has to offer?

Now, you might be wondering about the logistics. Some might suggest leaving your pooch at a kennel when you go away to make traveling easier. Although this option isn’t for everyone.

If your trip would not be the same without your furry friend by your side, then we suggest that you take them with you! So, here we have some suggestions for destinations to travel to with your dog this winter.

The Woods

A snow-covered forest is a magical destination at this time of year. It can be made even more special if you take your furry friend to frolic about in the frost.

You and your friends or family can enjoy the beautiful scenery, and your pup can enjoy this vast natural playground. They can hunt for sticks, weave between the trees, and maybe meet some other furry friends along the way!

However, you don’t have to stay outside all day. Many woodland areas have cabins and lodges to rent nearby, and plenty of them are dog-friendly. Do some quick research on your nearest forest to find the right accommodation for you.

The Countryside

Like the forest, other areas of the countryside can provide an excellent outdoor play area for your furry friend.

Picture miles and miles of fields and lanes, perfect for a stroll with your dog by your side. You get to enjoy the great outdoors together – but make sure you both wrap up warm!

Then, at the end of the day, you can cozy up by the fire and enjoy your time off with your pal at your feet. In these cold months, what could be better than that?

The Lake

A frozen lake creates the perfect winter aesthetic. Just be careful not to walk on the ice!

The surrounding areas of the lake are ideal for walking your dog, giving them room to run and play. This is always a good way to spend time with your pet, your family, and your friends.

Many lake-side restaurants and cafes are dog owners, and their pets are always popping in, so they are usually more than happy to welcome you. This makes lake areas a great destination to take your dog in winter, as you can take a break from the cold whenever you need it.

Ready for Your Vacation?

Hopefully, this list has provided you with some inspiration for your next winter trip with your pup.

As shown above, our best advice is to head outdoors and enjoy nature with your dog by your side!
